If you’re hearing engine noises like knocking, tapping or clicking, or if your engine stalls sometimes, bring your car in and our certified technicians will figure out what’s going on under the hood. Engine Knocking

Engine knocking or tapping sounds can indicate you are running low on oil. It may also be a worn-out part that needs replacing. A whistling noise can mean a cam shaft belt is not aligned or there is a leak in the intake. A squealing noise can result from a loose fan belt. And grinding noises often mean a brake, not an engine issue.

Engine knocking can happen at different times:

  • Starting the engine
  • When there’s cold weather
  • Engine knocks when it’s warm
  • Knocks while idling
  • During acceleration or high RPMs

Engine Stalls

Engine stalls are the worst — and often unexpected. A stalled engine can be from fuel pump problem, broken sensor or possibly an electrical issue. It might also indicate you’re low on fuel, overheating, or an engine component has worn out (like a fuel injector or spark plug).

The most common scenarios when engines might stall include:

  • Extreme temperatures
  • While accelerating
  • Shifting into drive
  • Coming to a stop / braking
  • When AC is turned on

If your engine is knocking, making other strange sounds, or stalling, then it’s time to bring your car into Bullitt Automotive where our experienced and professional service technicians can perform a complete diagnostics test and get your engine running efficiently again!
